'When Common Sense Standards Collapse' <Part 2>
Written by/Pastor Stephen Yang
Senior Pastor, Goback Church
Is there no citizen in the consciousness of the current president of the Republic of Korea and his aides?
Or do they really think of the people of our country, the Republic of Korea, as dogs and pigs? While watching this personnel hearing process, I had this thought and felt very anxious and worried.
In particular, even if we leave everything else behind, there is one thing that we cannot understand and cannot help
but be angry about.
It is the attitude of the current president of the Republic of Korea, the ruling party, related politicians,
and public officials, and their attitude toward the people.
Their words, actions, attitudes, and postures that I saw prove that they completely ignore people and
are not afraid at all.
When common sense standards collapse, that society becomes very dangerous.
A country’s laws can be said to be a document of the common sense of the general public.
However, when that common sense is ignored and collapses, that society soon enters a society
where the law collapses.
A society where common sense standards collapse is bound to experience frequent incidents and
accidents that are impossible to understand or accept, and as a result, the society falls into chaos and danger.
Furthermore, if this phenomenon comes down from the highest authority in the country and those around them,
the phenomenon will accelerate and quickly cause the country to fall into hardship.
How did our homeland, the Republic of Korea, come to this point? It is simply lamentable.
You will not find a single current German government official or high-ranking official in any country around
the world who supports the Holocaust perpetrated by the German Nazi government and Hitler as a justified act.
The national and ethnic damage, oppression, and trampling caused by Japan's atrocities in our country are a
hundred times greater than what is known in our society and the world.
We are witnessing the reality that high-ranking officials in the Republic of Korea, who should be criticizing
this accurately and demanding an apology and reflection from the Japanese government, are becoming
the second perpetrators in 2024, inflicting even greater pain on the hearts of the victims who were taken as comfort women for the Japanese military during the Japanese colonial period and suffered all kinds of pain and suffering.
Also, the high-ranking public officials shamelessly commit words and actions that once again inflict pain on the
families of the Sewol victims, as if stabbing them in the heart with a knife.
On the other hand, high-ranking public officials in the Republic of Korea government have an attitude of endless understanding and sympathy for Japan's atrocities and inhumane behavior.
The president, the government of the Republic of Korea, the ruling party lawmakers who nominate, appoint,
and support such a person, and the various broadcasting and media outlets that act as their lackeys.
How are our people accepting this reality and how are they soothing their hearts? As a member of the clergy,
I take a deep breath as I write this with a heavy heart.
The Korean church must repent.
